Hoka

Hoka Logo
In 2009, adventure racers Jean-Luc Diard and Nicolas Mermoud envisioned a new type of shoe. Dedication brought their dream to life and Hoka One One™ was born.

Driven by a trending popularity in outdoor recreation, namely trail running, they noticed that athletes are becoming increasingly faster, and that variation in performance is most noticeable during descents. Downhill running is often synonymous with fatigue, impact and muscle strain. Inspired, Jean-Luc and Nicolas responded by creating an innovative running shoe that focuses on freedom and enjoyment.

Each Hoka One One shoe is built upon a maximally cushioned midsole that offers superior protection, comfort and propulsion. The characteristic rocker geometry promotes optimally efficient running mechanics. Oversized outsoles, which have 50% more surface area than the average running shoe, ensure maximum stability, traction and connection with the ground. Being 15% lighter than most other running shoes, Hoka One One makes running uphill as much fun as running downhill, with much less body fatigue.

Since 2019, HOKA ONE ONE has committed an annual donation of $30,000 to Back on My Feet, a nonprofit organization combatting homelessness through the power of running, community support and essential employment and housing resources.

The fit was perfect and the shoes felt comfortable BUT for the fact that I have an issue with one of my feet. Many companies are offering shoes that have wide toe boxes - at last. However, they are not offering shoes that have HIGHER toe boxes. Nor do shoe companies provide any information on toe box depth. There are two choices - buy a pair of orthopedic shoes or sneakers and be comfortable (but with no pizazz) or look at photos of shoes and try and pick ones that LOOK like the toe boxes are higher. This shoe was great but for toe box height and thus, they have to go back, along with a pair of Hokas, New Balance, and Brooks. I wish that companies thought about this aspect of shoes or at least provided data.

All the other styles/sizes I’ve tried with Hoka have rubbed the side of my bug toe to the point that I got blisters! These don’t even touch that area and are absolutely PERFECT. So much so that I’m ordering another pair! Thank you for these wonderful shoes. I walk 6 miles + every day and I have to have a great pair of shoes. These do it!

Super comfortable! They look a little ridiculous, but when you have plantar fasciitis, you just want your feet to feel good. I ordered my regular size, but went with a wide after reading the reviews. Perfect fit. Expensive, but they will last.

I really like the look of these but they just weren't comfortable for me. The heel padding piece really bothered me and they just seemed too stiff for me.

I love Hokas but these, for me, were just awful! The heal padding part was really uncomfortable and these didn't seem to have as much cushioned feel as my Arahis or Bondis.

Most comfortable supportive athletic shoe; not runner but walking so comfortable. Love colors; bondi 8 seems to have thicker sole.

I purchase Hokas that minimize their obnoxious logo. Unfortunately most look like little billboards with no finesse for the use of the logo as an integral part of the shoe design. The logo always looks like an afterthought that is slapped on the shoe. Too bad. The Bondi is a comfortable shoe that would sell better if it wasn’t so garish looking.

The fit of the Hoka Challenger Atr 7 is entirely different than the Challenger Atr 6 (which had been my go to trail shoe). The Atr 7 is extremely narrow across the base of the toe area, with much less outer stabilizing sole. I went up a half, then a whole size but still too narrow. Wide width results in too wide a heel fit. Will move on to a different shoe, sadly. The Atr 7 is not as good as previous models.

I love the Gaviota 4. I have several foot issues, the worst of which is arthritis and these just work for me. This is my 6th pair of Gaviota 4 and I am terrified of the day they stop making this version so I have to find another shoe that works for my specific foot/leg issues. I do wish they made more Plush AND Stable shoes in Wide and that they gave us more color options in Wide, but at the end of the day reduced foot pain wins for me.

First pair of Hokas and I'm disappointed. I don't run, but follow running shoes and always heard good things about HOKA. I wear boots for work, so I thought this would be perfect. I do a decent amount of walking, climbing ladders and standing. These felt really flat considering the stack height and after a few hours my heels are killing me. They are very lightweight, comfortable upper and forefoot is very cushioned, but the heel for me feels like it's bottoming out. I've tried cushioned insoles and it only covers the problem for a while. I really want to like these. I guess I'm stuck with them as I've already worn them and didn't get them through HOKA.
