THE MEANING OF LIFE
Marmot clothing and equipment began in April 1971, when two University of California Santa Cruz students Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley were in the Juneau Icefields of Alaska on a school project in Glaciology. While atop those glaciers, it was there amongst the students that the concept of a Marmot club was born. In order to become a Marmot, they had to climb a glacieted peak with another Marmot. In addition, everyone was president.

During that summer and up until 1973, Eric and Dave began making prototypes of down clothing in their dorm room. In addition to Eric and Dave, their friend Tom Boyce joined their ranks and opened a rental/retail shop under the name Marmot Mountain Works. Here is where the Marmot company was brought to life in the summer of 1974.

Marmot incorporates quality Gore-Tex® in their products, maintaining the highest quality performance product. As a company, they actually remain to be the oldest customers of Gore-Tex® in the world outdoor market. Marmot endeavors to provide outdoor gear that is authentic, innovative and best in class. In every area of business practice that they engage in, they passionately seek the highest level of quality, performance, service and value.

The pockets are way too small but overall solid hiking pants.

Comfortable and light. I like the extra venting. Still kept me dry while walking a few miles in light rain. I do size up to be able to wear a thicker layer underneath for cold weather, but even when wearing it alone the extra size seems to drape OK. I am pretty happy with this one. I also like the light color for summer, not white, not really tan or grey, just a nice neutral.

Great productwell designed (except I can't quite figure out what is going on with the pockets...). I bought it because it was an affordable PFAS-free alternative, and it's working well for me as both a raincoat and a windbreaker. I'd like to see more PFAS-free products from Marmot!

This is a very light jacket with some nice features such as the pit-zips, velcro cuffs, hood and front zipper flap. The jacket fits well and is very packable. A chest pocket would have been nice. The main issue is that the jacket is not waterproof (even when treated with DWR - save you money and don't waste applying your DWR on this jacket) and not breathable. After some exposure to rain, the jacket starts to get soaked and water penetrates the material. After longer periods of rain, the jacket is soaked both outside and inside, not just damp. The jacket is best used as a light windbreaker, not "PreCip".

I love these pants, have two pair. I'm 5'8", 130 and wear a size medium. I'm not usually a grey color fan for myself, but I love the grey the best. Goes well with almost any color top.The fit is really good around the waist without the extra gap of fabric some pants have. These are lightweight and great for hiking or everyday wear. Would highly recommend.

These are great fitting shorts with the perfect inseam length. The material is fantastic and stretches as well as dries quickly. Do wish the front pockets were a bit deeper but the zip thigh pocket is great to keep small items secure. I have two different colors of these and am sad that they went to a short balloon type style instead for the new Kodakcrome version. I know it's trendy to wear poncho granny pants now but they really aren't flattering so I'm going to have to get another one of these before they sell out!

I ordered these in two sizes because I have a horrible time finding pants that fit. I ended up keeping bothe because the smaller pair fit find and the size up will be great over a base layer and with a belt. I like the fabric, pockets, color, and style. They are too long but since they are made to roll anyway. I just turn them up twice and they stay in place.

This is the 5th minimalist jacket that I have purchased. I don't like the new design as much as the more tailored jackets that I have previously purchased. Not nearly as flattering and shorter version does not keep you as try as prior version did.
