Dress Size Guide

How to Measure Your Dress Size

To determine your dress size, use a tape measure to find your bust, waist and hip measurements. Then, consult the dress size chart below to see what size dress will best fit your specific body type. Keep in mind that dress sizes vary from designer to designer and store to store, so this dress size chart should be used as a general guide.

Step 1: Measure Your Bust

Measure around the fullest part of your chest

Step 2: Measure Your Waist

Measure around the narrowest part of your waist - typically about 2 inches above belly button

Step 3: Measure Your Hips

Measure around the fullest part of your hips.

Choosing the Right Dress for Your Body Type

Once you have your dress size, it's time to find a dress that will flatter your figure. Here are some general guidelines to help you choose the right dress for your body type:

Small Bust

If you have a small bust and waist with wider hips, look for dresses that cinch in at the waist and flare out at the hips. An A-line dress or empire waist dress will be especially flattering.

Large Bust
If you have a large bust and wide shoulders, look for dresses that have straps or sleeves to help support your bust. A V-neck dress will also help minimize your bust. Avoid dresses with plunging necklines, as they will only accentuate your bust.

If you have a pear-shaped body, look for dresses that are flared or A-line to help balance out your hips. Dresses with a V-neck or Empire waist will also be flattering.

If you have an hourglass body, you're lucky because almost any dress style will look great on you. Just make sure to find a dress that fits well in the bust and waist and flares out at the hips.
