I LOVE THIS SHOE! I had never heard of Nisolo before I found them here. Incredible fit. Incredible classic design and so wonderfully made. The video tells you a lot about why this shoe is getting the kinds of ratings it's getting. They are made with a kind of thoughtfulness that is hard to find in anyone making anywhere. I don't buy a shoe because other people like it. I buy a shoe because they make my feet feel comfortable and supported. Wow. Nisolo really got this right. I really want a black pair so I'm keeping my eyes peeled.

I am writing this review while still wearing my new NISOLO boots because that's just how comfortable this boot is. I have been looking for this boot for years. I have never found it until now. I had NEVER heard of this company until this week when I found it just looking around on ZAPPOS. It is a simple but also a sophisticated design. Very Classic. It has Great medium arch support. Easy slip on. I wear a size 11 shoe. I have a medium/slightly narrow foot. It fits like a SHOE GLOVE!! Wow. I'm so excited. I love this boot! The leather is supple but not thin. It is VERY WELL made. EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT in every way. I have a feeling it will wear very well. We shall see.

They look nice and I received compliments on them. However after just a few wears the sole started separating from the shoe and I had to return them.

I have three pairs of these shoes; one pair is size 7.5 and two pairs sized 8 (my normal size). Let me start by saying that the craftsmanship is top-notch. Beautiful work. What could make these shoes stand out is to improve the fit. They feel narrow and I don’t have wide feet. They feel also a half size larger; I’m normally a size 8-8.5 but I bought a 7.5. The problem with these shoes is that they lack arch support and they don’t have removable insoles. So to improve the arch support I have to add an orthotic on top of their insoles, which then creates a tighter fit. Then I purchased size 8 (my normal size). The heels fit wide so my heels are loose and they come out of the shoes. I added heel pads and metatarsal support to improve support, fit, and prevent my heels from lifting, which sort of works. All in all, I have to modify them so much to make them fit well. If you want beautifully crafted shoes that are short on mindfully tailored comfort and fit, then these are the shoes.

(What's this?)Well made version of this classic shoe. Very nice barefoot in the heat, or with a thin sock.

Stylish-looking shoe but a bit snug, generally uncomfortable, and seemingly of lesser quality than the price-point. Returned.

Very uncomfortable and minimal design. Not worth the price.

The right boot rubbed my foot making it very tender. Also the leather is very easily marked by scratches.

(What's this?)Beautifully crafted quality leather boots in gorgeous colors. I have several pairs. I went with my true size and found them to be very narrow but a good length. Initially, The skin under my ankle bone did get pretty torn up as something was hitting it and my pinky toe was screaming. I did end up using a boot stretcher and now I can wear them all day and for long walks with no problem. The effort to make them mine was totally worth it. They’ve held up to New England elements and still look as pretty as the day I got them.

(What's this?)These run extremely big. I ordered a 1/2 size smaller as suggested, but they were still a size too big. I wanted to re-order a smaller size, but they were not available on the site.

I did some extensive research and wanted to share my thoughts to help out my fellow shoppers. I'm usually a size 8 (Frye, Cole Haan, Banana Republic, JCrew, etc), but I can fit into 7.5 in open sandals especially if they're on sale and also in 8.5 in boots or pointy shoes. I have medium width feet. I read the reviews on these and wasn't sure what size would work for me so I tried these in 7, 7.5, 8, and 8.5 mostly in the Almond color but I did also try the pair in Brandy in 8.5. 8.5 was way too big - almost 1/2 inch space left in both almond & brandy 7 - my feet fit but was way too tight 7.5 - if I inched to the very front of the shoe there was a slight space in the back and I thought these would be the right size but after walking around a little at home, my toes felt cinched and it's the dead of winter. I'm afraid even if the shoes stretch, they would still be a little short on me. 8 - these fit the most comfortably. There is more space in the back and my feet even comes out at times because it's a little loose especially on my right side but my toes felt free. I'm still debating between 7.5 and 8 so will update once I decide. I have to figure out why I can't attach the photos...(I can't even click on it) but I will share photos when I can.

(What's this?)The coloring between the two shoes was off. The reviews indicate that they run large, but that wasn't the case. Also, they arrived in a plastic bag with no shoe box, not a great look for a $150 shoes that were given as a gift.

Great book. Took a few wears to break in. But even during that time they were very comfortable for all day wear with a lot of walking involved.

(What's this?)Compared to other Chelsea boots, the fit on these was: 1. Tight on length and width. 2. Neither comfortable, nor sturdy.

(What's this?)I could hardly get the boot on and then when I did the leather upper rubbed against my leg. I struggled to get them back off BUT they are a beautiful boot!

(What's this?)Beautiful and sturdy, but too tight around heel/hard to get off and the leather was already scratched, so not likely to hold up well.

(What's this?)Like many huaraches, these are best broken-in while wearing them dampened the first few times to allow the leather strips to soften and conform to one's feet. They are very well made and the light color is quite lovely. I found the size to be true and while they are a bit too snug in the toe box for my wide feet, I know they will stretch enough with use to fit me comfortably in a short time. I appreciated the enclosed note and information regarding the people who make these traditional sandals--it's important to know that Nisolo pays its workers living wages above the minimum required. These are my introduction to Nisolo footwear and I look forward to purchasing more going forward!

Traditional huarache, but with modern materials in the sole and modern adhesives. The fit is non-standard. They run at least a half size large.

sorry, too narrow, I have a medium width and too snug.

This a traditional Mexican and Central American shoe, with some 21st century modifications to make the shoe more durable and less labor intensive to manufacture. The upper is woven, as in the traditional version of the shoe, and the foot bed is leather, as before, but the mid sole and the sole are durable contemporary, synthetic rubbers. The mid-sole is a closed cell foam. And the sole is a thin, flexible high-density rubber with a textured surface. The shoe has very little stitching. The straps from the upper extend through a series of small holes in the foot bed and are bonded, not stitched, in place. The result is a shoe with a completely traditional appearance, that is assembled with state of the art adhesives. As with wearing flip-flops or clogs, the first time you wear a hurarche, it may take a little while to learn how to walk in them with complete confidence, Also the shoe has to mold to your foot slightly.

Extraordinarily uncomfortable to try on. The leather felt like plastic, zero cushioning, the heel was stiff and narrow and seemed like it would shred my skin. I can't imagine how real people with feet made out of flesh can wear these.
Zappos Reviewer on August 07, 2024
The shoes were the right length but the width was much too narrow. It was actually painful to put them on.

These are SO cute. The color is perfect and a great neutral. The only issue is I have these in black and the leather is much softer and more pliable. The black fit me perfectly and feel very comfortable and soft. The leather on these lighter colored shoes is a lot more tough and thick. This color definitely feels tighter. Im hoping that over time they stretch out and feel like the black ones do. Im a 7.5 and these dont feel as small as a 7, but they are for sure smaller.
